Facilitation

Facilitate means: "To make easier or less difficult; to assist the progress of" and that's what we do for our clients, regardless of the type of project. However, true to our roots in team building and conflict resolution, and as reflected in our name, we also provide facilitation - to cross functional groups, leadership teams, department heads and others. Facilitation is often appropriate and effective when a group is meeting with a common purpose, such as decision making, problem solving, role clarification, organziational assessment, building consensus or idea development.

The facilitator does not lead the group but provides impartial expertise to help the group achieve successful outcomes. Generally a facilitator provides:

  • Methodology and agenda for the session,
  • Establish and uphold ground rules,
  • Keep the group focused and on track,
  • Neutralize group conflict and difficult personalities, and
  • Provide documentation and summary of the outcomes, if desired.

The benefits of a facilitated session include:

  • Allows all participants to contribute to the process;
  • An outsider-in perspective without a hidden agenda or undue influence that could bias the outcomes;
  • An atmosphere where people feel valued, respected and in control of the outcomes;
  • Accelerated decisions by quickly segmenting issues, ideas, success factors, etc;
  • Promotes teamwork and ownership resulting in commitment and renewed energy.
